The Baldoon Mystery | 1800s Haunting in Ontario

In the early 1800s, a quiet farming family in southwestern Ontario found themselves targeted by one of Canada’s most bizarre hauntings.

It started subtly, with unexplained noises and objects moving on their own, but the disturbances quickly escalated into something far more violent, destructive, and unusual.

Desperate for answers, the McDonald family turned to religion, paranormal investigators, and eventually to a young girl said to possess second sight for a solution.

Was the Baldoon Mystery the work of a poltergeist? a curse? a gifted storyteller? Or something else entirely?… that’s a debate has been raging on for nearly 200 years.

the Murder of Paul Schmidt (the Starbucks stabbing) and the piece of crap that filmed it

This week on The Canadian Gothic, we’re revisiting a past episode that continues to playout in the headlines.

Due to travel, we’re taking a short break from new releases, but rather than leave you without an episode, we’re bringing back our coverage of the murder of Paul Schmidt, a shocking and deeply disturbing act of violence that unfolded in downtown Vancouver on March 26, 2023.

In broad daylight, outside a busy Starbucks, Paul was attacked and killed following a brief confrontation while standing with his young daughter. The incident, which was partially captured on video and widely shared online, left a lasting impact on the public and raised difficult questions about violence, bystander behavior, and the justice system.

At the time of this original episode, many details were still emerging. Now, as the trial of the accused continues to work its way through the courts, this case is once again in the spotlight.

This rerelease offers an opportunity to revisit what happened that day, and to better understand the events at the center of a case that is still unfolding.

Obama, Trump, The American UFO Files, and Witness Reports of UFOs Above Canada

In this episode, we break down a truly unexpected UFO story. A recent interview with former U.S. President Barack Obama ended with a rapid-fire round of questions, and one of them, about the existence of aliens, set off a strange chain reaction. The moment quickly spiraled beyond the interview itself, leading to current President Donald Trump announcing a full release of government files on UFOs, and even resulting in Hillary Clinton being asked about the topic during a deposition connected to Jeffrey Epstein.

In the episode’s second act, we dig into a collection of listener-submitted UFO sightings from across Canada. The stories include two mysterious cylindrical objects appearing over Alberta, a triangular craft spotted in the sky above Ontario, and a strange, deeply spiritual encounter reported in British Columbia.
