“There’s a Present for You”: New Brunswick Man Sentenced in Fart Assault on Police

This is not some kind of KEEP CANADA WEIRD fan fiction… On Wednesday a Sackville man admitted in court that during his arrest last summer, he intentionally pressed his backside into two Mounties and farted on them, even announcing the acts by saying, “There’s a present for you,” and “And another for you.” The judge and prosecutor both described the incident as “unique” and “unusual.”

The incident began when a university student left the keys in his truck while moving into an apartment. When he returned, the truck was gone. Police later spotted the stolen vehicle with two men inside, including Jeremy Robert Weldon, 38, behind the wheel. When officers approached, Weldon reversed, sped past them, and fled through a field before getting the truck stuck and running on foot.

After surrendering to a Mountie who had drawn a Taser, Weldon was arrested. While being escorted into the detachment, prosecutors say he deliberately backed into one officer’s hip and groin area and farted, then repeated the act on a second Mountie moments later.

Weldon later told the judge he was drunk, embarrassed, and apologized, calling his behavior childish. He was sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence, including house arrest and curfew time, 75 hours of community service, a one-year driving ban, and $1,200 in fines.
