Police Charge Halifax Man Alleging He Used A.I. to Generate Explicit Images Involving Children
/Police have charged a Halifax man following an investigation into the alleged creation and sharing of child sexual abuse material using artificial intelligence.
Police say investigators with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information in September 2025 that a person in Halifax was using AI software to create and distribute images depicting child sexual abuse. Through the investigation, police identified and located a suspect.
On January 27, police searched a Halifax address, arrested the suspect, and seized electronic devices for forensic analysis. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police say that at this stage, evidence does not suggest that any real children were used or harmed in the creation of the materials.
Michael Burke Leblanc, 69, appeared in Halifax provincial court today and faces charges of distribution, possession, and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
