the Murder of Jim Strutton and the case against Mae McEachern

Near Owen Sound, Ontario, 1988

On April 26th, 1988, a man was shot and killed in a remote cabin deep in rural Ontario—a single act of violence that raised more questions than answers.

Four witnesses were in the cabin that night, but their stories didn’t add up. They contradicted each other, and as the investigation continued, they even contradicted themselves. At the center of this confusing and unsettling case was Mae McEachern, a woman who would ultimately be charged with murder.

What really happened that night in the cabin?

In this episode of Nighttime, Mae's defense attorney and author Brian Barrie joins us to revisit the case, unpack the conflicting accounts, and explore the search for answers.

Francesco Villi and the 2022 Vaughan, Ontario Condo Tragedy

For several years, 73-year-old Francesco Villi, a resident of a Vaughan, Ontario condo, waged a relentless campaign of harassment against the building's condo board and anyone else who challenged his belief that flaws in the building’s design were flooding his unit with toxic fumes and harmful electromagnetic interference.

After multiple court battles, a breached peace bond, and countless confrontations in the hallways, both sides of the dispute turned to their most extreme measures.

For the condo management, that meant pursuing a court order to force Villi to sell his unit.

For Villi, it meant something far more tragic.

In this episode of Nighttime, we delve into the story of Francesco Villi and the 2022 Vaughan, Ontario condo tragedy
